Construction Markets

Delivering bespoke design solutions for large infrastructure projects

Construction

We know that scarce resources and rising markets are challenging many of the traditional delivery approaches in large infrastructure projects across the world. Our team is creating design solutions to meet these challenges, and we’re applying them every day to ensure strong client and end user outcomes across a project from commissioning through to detailed design and delivery.

Our difference

Excellence in digital engineering design is what we’re known for. Whatever the project, we have the expertise and delivery model to bring it to life. In doing so, we consistently keep the ultimate end objective in mind and use client, end user and community needs to inform all decisions.

We design and construct for an asset’s complete lifecycle — from initial build through to decommissioning or repurposing. By delivering flawlessly on each aspect of project management we manage all relevant construction services, from project planning expertise, compliance management and controls, through to engineering design, procurement, construction planning and management, logistics, environmental and community consultation, and risk and value management.

How we deliver

With decades of experience across large, complex projects in resources, transport, water, energy and property, our track record is clear. We deliver:

  • Procurement innovation – we manage project constraints by building out the right procurement and delivery models for each phase of a project. Whether the project is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) such as NorthConnex in Sydney; Toowoomba Second Range Crossing in Queensland; Western Distributer in Melbourne, or a design alliance such as Novorail Alliance in Sydney; Torrens to Torrens Junction in Adelaide; and Springfield Rail Alliance in Queensland. We have also undertaken large Design and Construct (D&C) and Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) projects, such as Tullamarine Widening in Melbourne; Moreton Rail Link in Queensland, and Northlink Grade Separation in Perth.
  • Detailed design capabilities – our digital engineering experience has been tested across the globe, in projects such as WestConnex New M5 in Sydney, and during construction of NorthConnex in Sydney, and Caulfield to Dandenong grade separation in Melbourne.
  • Land infrastructure – the ever-increasing growth of our cities, both up and out, requires improved spatial planning. Infrastructure asset owners are facing pressure to maximise the use of existing infrastructure and move from reactionary responses to predictive. At the same time, new infrastructure is required to cope with urban growth. Better information is therefore required to prioritise spending and make informed decisions. To help with these challenges, Aurecon’s land infrastructure specialists provide strategic advice and design services to support the planning, design and construction of infrastructure projects, looking for opportunities to digitise the way we assess site constraints and design infrastructure. This includes:
  • Scalable teams – we use a variety of resourcing models to deliver fast and efficient outcomes. During the Caulfield to Dandenong grade separation in Melbourne, and WestConnex New M5 in Sydney, Aurecon delivered a team through our contactor and supply-chain partners. This met the scalable requirements of the projects through every phase. Aurecon also implemented GeoDocs, a document and design management web-based system to manage the design and document flow on the projects. GeoDocs has been specifically tailored to meet the requirements of alliances and contractor-led projects.
  • Tailored solutions – we deliver specific, bespoke solutions when a project calls for it. We are adept at delivering EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction), Alliances, Digital Engineering and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), Modular Design and Construction, and Construction Management solutions in any industry. We also have extensive experience in Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and Design and Construct (D&C) delivery models.
  • Flexible specialist skills – our team incorporates a broad variety of specialist skills to ensure we can answer complex construction queries quickly and effectively. Our construction team has expertise in areas such as: highways; ITS solutions and toll roads; ports; airports highway design; pavement design; bridges, tunnels (both for water and transport), commuter rail and metros, heavy haul and freight rail, dams and water process engineering; as well as systems and bulk materials handling. Our team thrives on delivering solutions as part of integrated solution.
  • Communications & stakeholder engagement – Collaborative decision making is at the heart of every successful project. When Aurecon leads community consultation and stakeholder engagement activities, we are working with you to lead the right conversations at the right time.

We have successfully supported the delivery of major projects in port and intermodals, airports, passenger and freight rail (both new and brownfield), metros and underground stations, urban toll roads and highways, sustainable energy, hydroelectricity, hospitals, universities, critical resource related infrastructure, and bulk material handling projects.

Around the world, governments are using light rail and mass transit to improve connectivity and reshape cities.
