New face of $350 million entertainment expansion to be delivered by Aurecon
10 February 2015 - Aurecon has been appointed by SKYCITY Adelaide to deliver a comprehensive package of works for Adelaide Casino’s AUD350 m expansion.
The firm will provide facade, structural, civil, geotechnical, acoustics, wind, vertical transportation and traffic services for the project.
Aurecon’s integrated resort experience in Australia also includes Star City Casino in Sydney and Crown Casino in Melbourne.
“For us, it’s the next step in our shared vision and ambition to reinvent Adelaide as a cosmopolitan and alluring destination that’s tenacious and competitive in the global tourism market.”
Upon completion, the project will deliver a luxurious entertainment and resort experience of world class calibre in the heart of the city’s Riverbank precinct.
Recently completed refurbishment works to the existing casino located within the heritage-listed Adelaide Railway Station will be complemented by a major expansion adjacent to the existing building.
The redevelopment will feature the city’s first 6-Star boutique hotel, brand new premium gaming rooms, entertainment and dining facilities.
Complementing the evolving Riverbank precinct, the reinvigorated Adelaide Casino is expected to attract a greater share of a lucrative domestic and international tourist market to a city already piquing some serious interest beyond Australia’s borders.
Voted by The New York Times as one of the ‘top places to go in 2015’, Adelaide’s expeditious renewal is expected to both foster and grow the city’s bustling art and festival scenes, exceptional dining culture, and accessibility to nearby tourist hot spots including the Barossa Valley.
“It’s remarkable to observe and be a part of Adelaide’s metamorphosis. We’re literally designing and engineering a city’s rebirth,” concludes Tsoukalas.
From approval to proceed the project is expected to take three years to complete.
