14 February 2014 - Aurecon has been appointed Technical Advisor on the Auckland City Rail Link (CRL) by key client Auckland Transport.
The CRL will comprise an underground passenger railway, approximately 3.5 kilometres long, extending from the existing Britomart Station to the existing rail network at the North Auckland Line. It will be located beneath the central business area of Auckland City, will rise approximately 76 metres, be mostly in tunnels and will likely contain three online stations with depths up to approximately 40 metres.
Alastair MacRitchie, Aurecon’s New Zealand Business Development Manager for transport, said, “This is a major project that will be the catalyst for transformational change to revolutionise Auckland’s rail system, changing the way in which people engage with the city, as well as supporting urban regeneration. It’s a great appointment for Aurecon and we look forward to working with our partners and Auckland Transport to deliver a world class underground network”.

Aurecon teamed with existing partners Mott Macdonald and architects Grimshaw & Jasmax.
Aurecon undertook the concept design and technical support for land designation, property negotiations and business case.
