Asia Pacific engineering consultancy Aurecon has provided engineering design and construction support services for Channel Infrastructure's newly commissioned 93-million-litre diesel storage facility at the Marsden Point Energy Precinct, delivering a critical fuel security project for New Zealand in just nine weeks.
Channel Infrastructure, New Zealand's largest fuel import terminal business, engaged Aurecon to support the rapid delivery of additional diesel storage capacity for the New Zealand Government. The project involved connecting over 750 metres of new pipework and brings an additional nine days of diesel demand coverage to the country.

Aurecon’s New Zealand Bulk Fuels leader Sam Lawrance said the project reflected Aurecon's ability to deliver large-scale infrastructure under accelerated timeframes with precision and care.
"New Zealand's fuel security is a critical national priority, so the team needed to move quickly and deliver at scale," Lawrance said.
"Working closely with Channel Infrastructure and the wider network of Northland contractors, our team drew on our experience at this site and across New Zealand with fuel import terminals to safely deliver this outcome in a compressed timeframe. The whole team is honoured to have played a role in strengthening New Zealand's resilience to future fuel supply chain disruptions."
Channel Infrastructure Chief Executive Rob Buchanan said, “The entire Channel team is proud to have been able to serve the country by enhancing the resilience of New Zealand to any potential fuel supply chain disruptions.”
