Acting with purpose

Aurecon has always had a strong focus on creating a better future for people and the planet in our own activities, and in the work we deliver with our clients and partners.

This commitment is the cornerstone of the work we do with our clients to protect and enhance their performance by responding to the risks and opportunities presented by sustainability and climate change. Across Asia Pacific, we are driving the continuous evolution of how we integrate sustainability across our operations in line with our support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).

Our focus also continues supporting human rights, fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, implementing environmental initiatives, and activating responsible corporate citizenship. We are committed to a more sustainable, liveable future, through the work that we do and the way we operate.

We believe humanity depends on engineering; and we have a stewardship role to play.

At Aurecon, we recognise our broad responsibility to act as stewards for both business and society. Our ability to live our purpose and harness multidisciplinary capabilities is our strength, not only co-creating beneficial outcomes with our clients, but also embedding sustainability into our strategy, operations and culture.

Understanding our impact from operations

Our sustainability policy is informed by a materiality assessment which determines the topics most material to our business. This assessment involves assessing the economic, social, and environmental impacts of our activities and business relationships, together with our enterprise risks and opportunities.

From an operational perspective, our most material impacts are assessed to be:

  • Governance and business ethics
  • Fostering a positive and thriving work environment for our people
  • Decarbonisation of our business operations
  • Contributing to community resilience
