The report recognised Aurecon’s move in 2022 to restructure its sustainability teams “from vertically functioning silos to a horizontal format, empowering its professionals no matter what their discipline to ’touch every business function’.”

The report further noted, “The group also established its first team of specialists to meet burgeoning demand for circular economy expertise in Australia and New Zealand, with a project pipeline forecast to quadruple within its first 18 months and involvement in multiple projects spanning local and state governments, water utilities, resources, major infrastructure and renewable energy.”

Aurecon Group Chief Executive Officer, William Cox, said Aurecon strives to make a real difference in the world by addressing complex environmental and sustainability challenges and Aurecon’s inclusion in the Top 30 was a significant achievement.

“The Environment Analyst's Global Competitor Analysis Report is a definitive industry resource, showcasing the top performers, trendsetters, and influential organisations in the industry, making Aurecon's inclusion among the Top 30 recognition of status as a global leader in environmental and sustainability expertise.”

“A big focus for Aurecon has been creating a new service group and leadership team to spearhead our rapidly growing sustainability and climate change advisory services spanning five focus areas of decarbonisation, carbon markets, transition strategy and ESG, physical risk and resilience, and circular economy.”

Aurecon has acquired several companies to bolster its environmental, sustainability and climate change expertise and capabilities.

"These strategic acquisitions represent our commitment to enhancing our environmental and sustainability offerings in the global market,” said Mr Cox. “Aurecon continues to stand at the forefront of sustainable development, working with organisations and governments to protect and enhance their performance by responding to the risks and opportunities presented by sustainability and climate change.”

Aurecon’s 30th place ranking in the Environment Analyst’s Global Competitor Analysis adds to their recent ranking of 67 in the Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) Top 200 Environmental Firms list.
