Asia Pacific design, engineering and advisory company Aurecon is named one of the Most Innovative Companies by The Australian Financial Review BOSS 2025 for its digital ecosystem, which drives client value by reducing risk, improving schedule and cost certainty, enhancing community acceptance, and delivering improved environmental outcomes.
Aurecon ranked in the Professional Services category, marking the company’s ninth consecutive year of recognition on the prestigious list.

The ecosystem is a suite of digital approaches that integrates quantitative analysis with quantifiable, scalable, multi-criteria assessment, helping manage program and approval processes, and de-risking infrastructure projects through design, construction and operations.
Aurecon Chief Engineering, Eminence and Innovation Officer Tanya de Hoog said the digital ecosystem helps clients in many different ways.
“This prestigious award is a great example of how we embody the fact that we are complex problem solvers. We’re proud of our team, who had the vision to develop this ecosystem and are delivering for clients, such as Transgrid’s HumeLink, where local tower design was optimised to minimise environmental impacts,” de Hoog said.
"It’s inspiring to receive this recognition for the innovation that comes from uniting technology with human expertise."

“It’s inspiring to receive this recognition for the innovation that comes from uniting technology with human expertise that is supporting many of our key energy, water, education, Defence, transport and critical minerals infrastructure clients.”
Aurecon Environment and Planning Leader – Australia, Braith Gilchrist said the digital ecosystem brought together multiple data sources and applied powerful analytics to extract meaningful insights, detect risk, identify constraints early, and support the planning, design and delivery of infrastructure while minimising impacts on habitats and vegetation.
“Our clients increasingly require data-driven insights to help navigate complex planning, approvals and community engagement factors, particularly in the energy sector, and are realising great outcomes with our digital ecosystem,” Gilchrist said.
“Projects these days are increasingly complex, given the sheer scale of infrastructure that needs to be built to decarbonise sectors, together with evolving environment and community dynamics.”
Aurecon’s ranking was also determined through other measures where innovation is embedded throughout the company, including its long-standing Design Academy, and refreshed ‘Innovation with Intent’ strategy, and exemplar forums that bring eminent professionals and clients together to brainstorm new solutions to specific challenges.
Aurecon was recognised as one of The AFR Boss 2024’s Most Innovative Companies for Aurecon air®, a digital platform within the ecosystem, that converts environmental reporting into a digital project narrative for community and stakeholder engagement.
