Asia Pacifiv design, engineering, and advisory company Aurecon welcomes a 2.2 percentage point decrease in its median gender pay gap over the past year.

According to the 2023-24 annual report by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency, Aurecon’s median gender pay gap was 24.1%, a 2.2 percentage point decrease from the previous year, while the average remained 17.9%, consistent with last year.

Compared with the industry group, Engineering Design and Engineering Consulting Services, Aurecon’s median gender pay gap is 3.8 percentage points higher, while its average gender pay gap is 1.3 percentage points lower.

We attribute our progress to sustained efforts in embedding our strategy while seeking new opportunities. Recent examples of activities to develop a longer-term pipeline include Aurecon’s support for the delivery of Dream Big and UNIQ You, which are dedicated to the mentorship of women, girls and gender diverse people in STEM. In the shorter-term, our updated parental leave policy supports a change in the caring and working behaviours of our workforce.

We have also enhanced the transparency and accountability of all our diversity, equity and inclusion strategies with the launch of the Aurecon 2024 Sustainability Report.

Committed to reducing gender pay gaps, Aurecon adopts a holistic strategy that covers leadership, policies and behaviours. The strategy is underpinned by a suite of dynamic measures designed to deliver positive outcomes at a company level as well as improved individual experiences.

We recognise that closing gender pay gaps calls for a collective, long-term effort due to a range of company, structural and societal factors. For example, traditional gender imbalance in STEM industries demands additional work from companies like ours in narrowing those gaps.

Aurecon will continue to be committed to initiatives that support a diverse and inclusive workplace because we know this enables us to attract and retain the very best talent regardless of demographic. It also drives more diverse thinking, greater creativity, and innovation, which ultimately benefits all our people and our clients.
