Aurecon appoints Senior Advisor to bolster its Asia leadership team

Aurecon appointed business leader Peter Lee as its new Senior Advisor for Asia.

Peter has 40 years of international experience in the civil infrastructure sector. He will work closely with the Asia leadership team to accelerate the firm’s growth.

9 May 2022 – International design, engineering and advisory company Aurecon has appointed esteemed business leader, Peter C. S. Lee as its new Senior Advisor for Asia, effective 2 May 2022. Peter will be based in Singapore and report directly to Stephane Asselin, Chief Executive, Asia.

Peter is an eminent industry leader with close to 40 years of international experience in the civil infrastructure sector. Prior to Aurecon, Peter led Changi Airport Planners and Engineers (CAPE) as its Managing Director for almost 7 years.

During his tenure at CAPE, he provided valuable strategic counsel and leadership that enabled CAPE to grow its international market share. Before CAPE, Peter was with AECOM for 33 years and during this time, he held several senior executive positions, including Regional Executive for South East Asia as well as Chairman of AECOM Singapore.

In his newly appointed role at Aurecon, Peter will work closely with the Asia leadership team to accelerate the firm’s growth. He will contribute to shaping the company’s growth strategy and priorities, provide advice on value creation initiatives, leverage and grow market opportunities in the region, as well as strengthen existing client relationships and forge new ones. Peter will also help to build high-performing teams to serve our clients.

As Asia’s dynamic economies continue to deliver strong growth, Aurecon is committed to growing its business and expanding its presence in the region. According to the Asian Development Bank, Asia's infrastructure needs are expected to cost about US$26 trillion between 2016 and 2030 which equates to more than US$1.7 trillion per year. Peter’s appointment will augment Aurecon’s ability to capture this growth.

About Peter Lee, Senior Advisor, Asia

Over the last 40 years, Peter has contributed to several major infrastructure developments in Singapore and in Asia.

In his 33-year tenure at AECOM, he worked on the first Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project and the first underground road, the Central Expressway (CTE) in Singapore. He was also the Corporate Director leading design packages for both Singapore’s MRT Downtown Line and Circle Line. Other major infrastructure projects Peter contributed to in Singapore included the Common Services Tunnel (CST) in Marina Bay, Deep Tunnel Sewerage System (DTSS), International Cruise Terminal at Marina South and the Container Port (F3) at Tuas.

In Asia, he assumed various roles in large-scale civil and infrastructure projects such as the Hong Kong MTR Island Line, Kuala Lumpur MRT Line Phase 1, Bangkok MRT Blue Line, Jakarta MRT Phase 1 as well as Hong Kong’s Kwai Chung Container Terminals.

In 2015, Peter took on the role as Managing Director at Changi Airport Planners and Engineers (CAPE). During his term with CAPE, Peter established CAPE’s reputation to be a leading global airport consultancy. Notable projects that Peter provided counsel to in Southeast Asia include Manila International Airport in the Philippines, Jakarta International Airport in Indonesia and New Phnom Penh International Airport in Cambodia.

Peter is a leading expert in his field and a well-respected professional. Beyond his work responsibilities, he is an advocate for advancing the development of the engineering profession. As a Professional Engineer registered with the Professional Engineers Board of Singapore, Peter maintains an active involvement in both the commercial and the technical aspects of projects. He is also a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers in Hong Kong and Singapore as well as a Certified Project Manager of the Society of Project Managers in Singapore.

Peter graduated from the University of London, United Kingdom with a Bachelor of Science, Engineering and has a Master of Philosophy from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.
