Josiah Yang, Mechanical Engineer at Aurecon Singapore, has been named ACES Young Consulting Engineer of the Year 2026 in the Mechanical category, recognising his technical versatility and exemplary contributions to Singapore's built environment.
The Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore (ACES) Young Consulting Engineer of the Year Award recognises young engineers who have made substantial contributions to their profession through excellent work that demonstrates exceptional design and engineering abilities.

Josiah’s path into engineering began with a Diploma in Architecture at Singapore Polytechnic before interning at Asia Pacific engineering consultancy Aurecon in 2019. That year shaped the direction of his career. He went on to complete a degree and later a Master of Engineering Technology in Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering (Building Services) at the Singapore Institute of Technology, publishing his Master's research on 'Mathematical modelling of passive displacement dual cooling coil (PDDCC) system in a tropical climate' in the Energy and Buildings journal in 2023.
True to Aurecon's commitment to creating opportunities for its people to grow, Aurecon has provided Josiah with the platform to hone his project management and project delivery skills through a diverse range of projects and industries.
“It’s been genuinely rewarding watching Josiah grow from a promising intern into an outstanding engineer. He has always demonstrated competence in stakeholder and project management even in challenging situations. I am very proud of how far he has come,” said Aurecon Director of Building Operations, Steven Lee.
"Josiah's award reflects something we care deeply about at Aurecon, which is providing our engineers with meaningful projects and development opportunities that support their career growth."

Since joining Aurecon, Josiah has led the project and mechanical delivery on Freshfield’s new Singapore office at IOI Central Boulevard Towers, coordinating diverse teams across Singapore to Melbourne to get the outfit done inside a tight nine-month window. He has also spent several years working on Marina Bay Sands, delivering hotel guestroom refurbishments, casino and restaurant fit outs, and now the new Link Bridge connecting Towers 2 and 3.
"Every project I have worked on at Aurecon has stretched me in a different way, whether that is a local or overseas project, coordinating a team across cities or working across sectors from hospitality and industrial to defence. Aurecon has given me the trust and the range of work to grow into the engineer I am today," Josiah said.
Josiah now mentors junior engineers and interns within Aurecon's Building Mechanical team, guiding them through technical fundamentals and involving them in site visits so they can connect design to construction. He also contributes to industry-wide conversations on talent retention through his involvement in the Building and Construction Authority's Young Leaders Programme.
"Josiah's award reflects something we care deeply at Aurecon, which is providing our engineers with a range of meaningful projects and development opportunities to support their career growth. He started here as an intern and has now grown into someone shaping the next generation of engineers coming through our team. This recognition is well deserved, and it is exactly the kind of outcome we hope to see when we invest in our people," said Aurecon Chief Executive, Asia, Gabe Carter.
Josiah's story, from intern to award-winning engineer, is an example of engineering possibilities in action. Through meaningful work, challenging projects, and continuous development, he has built the breadth of experience that has shaped him into the engineer he is today. This is a milestone Aurecon is proud to celebrate as it continues nurturing engineering talent and delivering excellence across Asia Pacific.
