About Amy Clark

Lead engineer in Aurecon’s Building Structures group, Amy Clark, won the Innovation in Design Award in New South Wales. Amy has over 7 years of experience in the design and design management of iconic major buildings and infrastructure projects in Australia. Her expertise in designing complex structures has significantly contributed to the delivery of Australia’s biggest public transport project, Sydney Metro, most notably the Central Station Metro Works and Pitt Street integrated station development projects.

Amy’s contributions to the Central Station Metro Works project centred on the revitalisation of the Grand and Northern Concourse entrances, which improved pedestrian connections with Eddy Plaza, and the new metro station box, which is located beneath existing platforms 13-15 and houses the new column-free metro platforms approximately 27-metres below ground.

In addition to her project work, Amy prioritises corporate social responsibilities through her contributions to Aurecon’s Sustainability and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategy, as an accredited Mental Health First Aider, and in supporting emerging professionals through mentorship, high-school outreach, and industry thought leadership initiatives.

"Ultimately, we are humanitarians. We are privileged to devote our careers to improving the well-being of people and communities..."

“As engineers, we are designers, inventors, managers, and makers. We tell the story of how things work. And, ultimately, we are humanitarians. We are privileged to devote our careers to improving the well-being of people and communities, tangibly contributing to city-shaping projects, and co-creating to innovating with our inspiring industry. I am honoured by the recognition granted by NAWIC and am deeply grateful for the opportunities afforded to me by our clients, colleagues and project partners in bringing the Central Station Metro Works to life,” Amy said.

Amy’s contributions to the engineering profession has also been recognised by Engineers Australia, who named her as Sydney’s 2021 Young Professional Engineer of the Year, and Consult Australia, who recognised her as a highly commended recipient of the 2021 Future Leader Award.

About Georgia Davey

Georgia Davey, Project Manager on the National Guided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance Enterprise (GWEO) program, received the Leadership and Mentoring Award in the Northern Territory.

With over 10 years’ professional experience in the defence industry, one of Georgia’s career priorities is sharing her knowledge and creating supportive environments to improve the performance of professionals and local businesses.

Georgia instigated an ’open door’ policy that allows her project teams and Indigenous businesses to approach her freely for advice. For businesses, this helps them gain advice on processes and requirements to secure work on the Defence Estate. For emerging professionals, especially women, Georgia exchanges knowledge and information to support their career growth.

“With the construction industry experiencing significant resources pressure, creating a work environment that actively supports and promotes knowledge sharing, collaboration and diversity will play an important role in producing successful project outcomes and developing competent and empathetic leaders,” said Georgia.

About Saba Munir Ahmed

Saba Munir Ahmed, an electrical engineer within Aurecon’s Building Structures group, won the Emerging Talent Award in Western Australia.

Saba helps to deliver Program Delivery Services (PDS) projects for the Department of Defence. As an emerging talent, Saba considers her role as the Assistant Technical Support and Design Manager for Defence’s National Residual Current Device (RCD) Project one of her key career achievements. In this role, Saba has been instrumental in expanding the program’s talent pool from four to 17 members and clearing more than 800 overdue tasks in less than two months.

Beyond her role, Saba is also passionate about promoting equal opportunities for women within the building and construction industry. She does this by volunteering for corporate and industry initiatives, such as facilitating Aurecon’s International Women in Engineering Day 2022 panel discussion; serving as an advisor at the UNIQ You program, where she provides career advice for female students; and presenting at the National Diversity Career Fair 2019, where she shared her story as a mother successfully returning to work after a long career gap to raise her family.

“As an electrical engineer and volunteer, I am grateful to have the opportunity to shed a little light, literally and figuratively, through my work and advocacies. This award has added fuel to my passion to continue making a positive impact in the industry, community and, of course, our little ones,” Saba said.
