Inground is a utilities management service that makes it easier for strategic planners, infrastructure designers, and contractors to understand constraints related to underground services early in the design process.

As existing utility information is a crucial element of transport and land infrastructure design, Inground reduces risk by clearly communicating project tolerances, reducing model generation time, and facilitates best information management practice on large projects.

“This digital service puts trusted data in the hands of designers and stakeholders early to make key decisions and de-risk projects. Models are automatically generated from standardised, interoperable datasets, enabling a digital solution to a recurring problem,” Nick Williams said.

The Melbourne Design Awards recognise courage, diversity, and excellence in projects and products that leverage design to “accelerate transformation, focusing on customer needs and achieving strategic goals”. The Digital – New Service or Application category acknowledges a new service or application that exemplifies true innovation, exceeds expectations, and close a gap in the market.

Aurecon’s digital team last won gold at the awards for their digital product siteLab, a digital canvas that allows users to interact with infrastructure or built environment designs in real-time.
