02 February 2015 - Giam Swiegers joins Aurecon as Global Chief Executive Officer, based in the company’s Sydney office, today.

As of this date, Aurecon’s Executive Committee will grow to 12 members, with the promotion of four executives to the new role of Managing Director for each of Aurecon’s four key markets:

Giam said, “These promotions to Aurecon’s Executive Committee support our focus on client centricity and market growth. These are four very senior executives who will have a significant impact on Aurecon’s success.”

The new Managing Directors will join Aurecon’s four Regional Managing Directors as well as the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Business Development Officer on the Executive Committee.

Aurecon has also promoted Liam Hayes to the role of Chief People Officer, reporting directly to Giam Swiegers. “I will work closely with Liam to continue Aurecon’s focus on leadership development and to ensure we are energising and growing the significant talent that exists across Aurecon to drive growth around and beyond our excellent core design and engineering business,” said Giam.

“Giam has a superb track record as a CEO and is a great cultural fit for us as a business. His accomplishments in building a great culture and an agile, growing business are a great strategic fit for us as an expanding global business,” Teddy Daka, Global Chairman, said.

Giam began his career as an auditor with Deloitte in South Africa, and subsequently worked for Deloitte in the USA before returning to become Managing Partner of its Tshwane office.

He moved to Australia in 1997 and became CEO on 1 June 2003. Deloitte won both the Accounting Firm of the Year and the Audit Firm of the Year in the Australian Financial Review CFO Awards 2013-2014, with judges highlighting Deloitte’s innovation and agility.
