Strategically located in Adelaide’s BioMed City precinct, the project will deliver an all-electric tertiary and advanced care hospital, for the people of South Australia. The project represents a once-in-a-lifetime investment in the future of healthcare for South Australians and is one of the largest investments in healthcare across Australia.

Aurecon’s Industry Director, Health, Education & Research, Hayley Wardrop, said that Aurecon’s delivery of healthcare engineering and project management will provide the expertise and experience needed to deliver this vital project for South Australia.

“Our approach from day one has been to gather the best healthcare engineers from across South Australia, nationally and internationally, to come together to deliver this next piece of critical health infrastructure for South Australia.

“Women's and Children's hospitals are emotive for many people; they are places of pure joy and some of the most challenging times. I am incredibly proud for Aurecon to continue shaping these facilities to support families and the communities.”

Pirku Design is derived from the Kaurna language, meaning ‘community’. Pirku's branding identity depicts the Indigenous symbols of ‘People’ and ‘Place’, representing the communal gathering of a yarning circle to share, learn and build relationships in a safe, judgement-free space.

The logo also combines the dual meaning of ‘design’ and ‘engineering’ with the elements forming a cog wheel.

The project expands Aurecon’s track record in planning, design and delivery of health infrastructure, including the SALHN Strategic Masterplan and Southern Redevelopments, SA health asset sustainment program, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Stage 3 Redevelopment, Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Perth Children’s Hospital, Logan Hospital Expansion, Victoria’s Modular Emergency Departments and climate risk assessments for Victorian hospitals.

Works are already underway with the hospital scheduled for completion in 2031.
