Asia Pacific design, engineering and advisory company Aurecon, in joint venture with KBR, has secured a two-year contract extension to support SA Water in delivering its capital delivery program. The extension follows a four-year partnership between the joint venture and SA Water.

With work spread across South Australia, the capital delivery program is one of the largest in the South Australian Government’s portfolio.

The renewed contract will see Aurecon and KBR continue as SA Water’s Front-End-Engineering Design and Client Organisation Partner.

SA Water’s capital delivery program encompasses a diverse portfolio of projects, including dam upgrades, water tank refurbishments, bulk water transfer infrastructure, water main replacements, sewerage network upgrades and water and wastewater treatment upgrades.

Delighted with the renewed partnership, Aurecon Managing Director, Water – Australia, Tim Spies said, “As we broaden our remit to cover project planning and scoping over the next two years, we will increase our focus on systems engineering, efficiency and cost-effectiveness, sustainability in planning and engineering, capability development for SA Water, as well as workplace culture, integration and innovation.”

Over the past four years, Aurecon and KBR have provided engineering, program and project management services, procurement support, sustaining capital and construction management services.

The partnership has already seen a range of positive outcomes delivered to SA Water and the community. For example, the partnership has delivered sustainable drinking water solutions, including desalination plants for regional communities in Oodnadatta and Kangaroo Island, and improved wastewater management through installation of modern sewer systems and treatment plant upgrades.

With an intent to leave a long-term positive impact on the community, Aurecon and KBR broke down barriers to employment, actively supported Indigenous communities and businesses, and provided opportunities for people living with a disability.

Key to the success of the long-running partnership is a fully integrated delivery model where Aurecon and KBR teams work side by side with SA Water, partners and contractors.

“At Aurecon, we take pride in our customer-first approach. Throughout the project delivery, we take the needs of customers, residents, and the wider community as core business requirements. Aurecon’s expertise in asset and business lifecycles, water industry and our blend of advisory, digital, and engineering capabilities enable us to deliver integrated solutions to the program,” added Tim.
