International design, engineering and advisory company Aurecon, has entered the sustainable finance market.
Aurecon has signed sustainability linked loan agreements with its lending partners. Commonwealth Bank and National Australia Bank acted as joint coordinators on the loans. Lenders Citibank and Macquarie Bank were also instrumental in supporting Aurecon’s first sustainability linked loan structures.

Aurecon’s Chief Financial Officer, Andrew Muller said, “Aurecon is a participant in the United Nations Global Compact and adheres to its principles-based approach to responsible business. Further, the company has made a commitment to become net zero in its operations by 2025. Adding sustainability linked loans to its debt facilities is one more way for Aurecon to co-create, in this case with its banking partners, a more sustainable future.”
The sustainability linked loans tie the interest charged on Aurecon’s debt facilities to key sustainability performance targets aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of good health and well-being, gender equality and climate action. Thereby incentivising the company’s achievement of enhanced social and environmental outcomes.
Paul Gleeson, Group Director – Sustainability added that, “As a provider of climate change and sustainability services it is important for there to be strategic alignment between the advice provided to clients and how Aurecon manages its own business.”
