Aurecon has won work on one of the world’s largest solar projects now that approval has been given for the AUD 0.7 million Kogan Creek Solar Boost Project.
CS Energy’s 750 megawatt coalfired Kogan Creek Power Station near Chinchilla in South West Queensland will soon become home to a 44 megawatt solar thermal addition, representing the largest solar project in the Southern Hemisphere and the world’s largest solar integration with a coal-fired power station.

Aurecon’s General Manager - Energy - Asia Pacific, Peter Hulbert said: “This project is an innovative solar project representing one of the most significant investments to date in solar thermal technology and is part of CS Energy’s commitment to producing cleaner electricity from existing coal-fired power stations.”
Peter continued, “Aurecon will be providing CS Energy with Owner’s Engineer services which will include a range of design reviews, as well as project and contract management services during the construction phase. This will include mobilising to site for the construction and commissioning phases, coordinating and inspecting the works and conducting witness testing with CS Energy.”
Other key tasks include client liaison and reporting, quality assurance, accountability, health and safety, and compliance with local statutory and regulatory requirements.
