The Downtown Line (DTL) stage 3 consists of an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) System extending from Downtown Line Stage 1 (DTL1) Chinatown Station. It runs through MacPherson, Bedok Reservoir, Tampines and ends at the East-West Line Expo Station. It comprises 16 stations with a total route length of approximately 21 kilometres, including a connection to Kim Chuan Depot.
Package C of LTA’s Contract 9181 features a tunnel with a total route length of approximately 9.5 kilometres and 6 stations which includes two interchange stations with other associated services and structures (shaft, tunnels and cross passages). All the stations were designed as Civil Defence shelters.
Aurecon was appointed as the independent accredited checker for the design of both temporary earth retaining structures (ERSS) and permanent design works for Package C, according to requirements under the Building Control Acts and Regulations. The role of the accredited checker is to ensure the structural safety of buildings by carrying out independent checks on the designs prepared by a Qualified Person.
The Downtown Line 3 was opened for passenger service in October 2017.
