Aurecon contributes to several expansions, redevelopments, and critical infrastructures for the Cairns Airport in Australia
The aviation industry is highly competitive and rapidly changing, affected by constantly evolving passenger behaviour, technological developments and of course fuel prices.
Aurecon has been working collaboratively with Cairns Airport for over 25 years, contributing to a safe, profitable and passenger friendly airport. Over the course of more than 30 landside and airside projects, Aurecon has contributed to airport expansions and redevelopments, new apron bays, new buildings, extended taxiways, critical infrastructure and earthworks.
“The Cairns Airport has been a critical infrastructure asset in the development of the Cairns region for over 50 years. It has been a pleasure working in partnership with our client and being able to deliver on projects that contribute to the progress of this international airport that now welcomes 5 million passengers each year,” said Paul Pommer, Technical Director Infrastructure, Cairns.
Airport operators want long term and cost effective infrastructure solutions to support future aircraft and passenger activity. Aurecon’s ongoing role at Cairns Airport is playing a part in its ability to continually provide air links to a range of domestic and international locations as the gateway to the World Heritage Great Barrier Reef and tropical rainforests of North Queensland, Australia.
