Aurecon, in partnership with AGA Architects Pte Ltd (AGA), has been appointed by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) for the architectural and engineering design services of road and commuter infrastructure enhancements across Singapore (ID110 Package A).

The projects are island wide and aims to enhance commuters’ travelling experience through the implementation of covered linkways and upgraded bus stops. These improvements will be partly implemented at key amenities and key transport nodes to reduce car dependency and to support a car-lite lifestyle.

Jean-Marc Girard, Chief Operating Officer, Asia at Aurecon, said, "Supporting Singapore's 2040 Land Transport Master Plan vision for a car-lite society and enhancing the overall commuter experience is key to this project. By creating seamless connectivity between different transport modes and vibrant community spaces, we're helping to shape a more inclusive and accessible Singapore.”

The scope includes concept and preliminary designs of new and upgraded bus stops along with additional linkways, covered linkways for commuters, and high covered linkways over carriageways. Ensuring barrier-free access for better wheelchair accessibility is a key focus.

Adrian Yeung, Technical Director, Civil at Aurecon, and the project manager for the multi-disciplinary team, said, "While enhancing the commuters’ experience by shielding them from the sun and rain through the extension of accessible linkways network to key transport modes, we are focused on minimising the potential impact on existing infrastructure and preserving Singapore’s urban greenery."

"Together with AGA, we're implementing design solutions that prioritises safety, functionality, weather protection, constructability and maintainability. We’ll also carefully manage utilities, existing road infrastructure, and existing greenery, ensuring these new connections integrate harmoniously with the surrounding environment."

The design team will work closely with LTA and multiple stakeholders including the Public Utilities Board, Housing Development Board, Town Councils, National Parks Board, and more to ensure minimal disruption to existing infrastructure while maximising accessibility and comfort for commuters.

This appointment builds on Aurecon's track record in developing Singapore's transport infrastructure, including works on the Cross Island Line, with Contract CR207, Contract CR108, Pasir Ris Interchange Station and CR208 Clementi Interchange Station, Jurong Region Line Contracts J102 and J109, Contract 810C Sengkang-Punggol Light Rapid Transit Depot Expansion, R8205 Bearing Replacement Works at SPLRT and ID103 Tuas Engineering Study.
