Aurecon’s Department of Defence, Project Delivery Services Program Director Andrea Nejedlik, and Delivery Management Senior Consultant Georgia Davey, accepted the award at the ceremony in Darwin on
August 12.

The Blak Buyer of the Year Award recognises a business that has supported and made significant contributions to the social, cultural, or economic well-being of Indigenous businesses in the Northern Territory.

Aurecon was awarded Blak Buyer of the Year for its contribution to the continued growth of the Indigenous Business Enterprise (IBE) cohort by engaging IBEs to deliver works on the Defence Estate in the Northern Territory. With close to 100 active projects underway, this represents a significant social and economic opportunity for Northern Territory IBEs and is a demonstration of the Aurecon Defence values to Co-create with Excellence and Integrity to create a positive Legacy.

Penny Rush, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Manager at Aurecon said, “It’s great to see this recognition and to celebrate the successes of Indigenous businesses that Aurecon partners with.

“Earlier this year Aurecon launched its fourth Reconciliation Action Plan ‘Innovate’ where we continue to purposefully weave reconciliation into our day-to-day work, elevating engagement and accountability. It is important for us to celebrate the successes of Aboriginal and Torres Straits Islander Peoples and promote equal social and economic opportunities between Australia’s first peoples and all Australians.”

Aurecon continues to foster relationships with IBEs through subcontracting opportunities for design services and investigation works, further supporting IBE business growth and employment opportunities for their teams and communities.
