Aurecon releases United Nations Global Compact: Communication on Progress 2022

Aurecon supports the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact 2022 as another opportunity to live our purpose of bringing ideas to life.

Aurecon’s United Nations Global Compact: Communication on Progress 2022 forms part of its commitment as a participant in the United Nations Global Compact.

28 June 2022 – Aurecon is proud of its ongoing support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact and its continuing focus on respect and support for human rights, diversity, equity and inclusion, sustainability, and responsible corporate citizenship.

“Supporting the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact is another opportunity to live our purpose of bringing ideas to life,” says Aurecon Chief Executive Officer William Cox.

The company released its United Nations Global Compact: Communication on Progress 2022 today. The report forms part of the company’s commitment as a participant in the United Nations Global Compact.

“In our Communication on Progress, we describe our actions to integrate the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture, and daily operations,” says Mr Cox.

Change in reporting process

The United Nations Global Compact is officially changing the reporting process from 2023. The change sees the process move from the current report in a narrative format to an online input of responses to a standard set of questions. This move is to ensure consistency of reporting across all United Nations Global Compact participants.

Aurecon accepted the offer from the United Nations Global Compact to participate in an Early Adopter programme. This means Aurecon will report in the new platform this year. You can view the online 2022 Communication on Progress submission on Aurecon’s participant page on the United Nations Global Compact website. However, Aurecon will continue to provide a sustainability report in a narrative format too.

Climate change commitment

In December 2020, Aurecon made a commitment to achieve net zero emissions in its operations by 2025, as part of its plan for a 100 percent net zero emissions future. Paul Gleeson, Group Director, Sustainability & Managing Director, Energy – Australia & New Zealand said, “We will achieve our targets through risk-based decisions, balancing investment in emissions reduction measures against offsets. Over time we expect the need for offsets will reduce.”
