Aurecon engineer named Young Consulting Engineer of the Year in Singapore

Chua Chee Ming named as ACES Young Consulting Engineer of the Year 2020

Chua Chee Ming named as Young Consulting Engineer of the Year 2020 from the Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore (ACES).

22 October 2020 – Chee Ming Chua, Senior Mechanical Engineer at Aurecon, from the Singapore office, was named one of the Young Consulting Engineers of the Year in the Mechanical Engineering category by the Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore (ACES).

The ACES Young Consulting Engineer of the Year recognises and celebrates young engineers in Singapore who are making outstanding contributions to their line of work.

Chua was recognised for his unconventional approach to designing data centres, commercial, institutional, and laboratory projects.

“My three kids love nature, and this inspires me to design solutions that protect our environment. As an engineer, this encourages me to integrate green design with technical knowledge so as to develop energy-efficient projects that will benefit the next generation,” said Chua.

In addition to Chua’s achievement, Aurecon’s exemplar projects, Global Switch Singapore Woodlands Data Centre and Renewable Energy Integration Demonstrator – Singapore both won merit awards at the Mechanical & Electrical Projects above S$20 million and below S$20 million categories of the ACES Design Excellence Awards, respectively.

Global Switch Singapore Woodlands, a 25,000 m2 data centre owned by Global Switch, delivers best-in-class operational and environmental management processes. Aurecon provided prefabricated mechanical, electrical and plumbing modular services for the project, which was a first for a large-scale project in Singapore at that time.

Renewable Energy Integration Demonstrator is a multi-microgrid test and research platform built by Nanyang Technological University to address the need for sustainable and affordable energy access in remote and developing communities in Southeast Asia. Aurecon served as the lead consultant for all engineering design, architecture and quantity surveying services of the project.
