16 February 2016 - Engineering and consulting firm Aurecon’s Global CEO, Giam Swiegers announced today that Andrew Muller, previously CFO of Lendlease Construction and Infrastructure Australia, had joined Aurecon as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and as a member of its Executive Committee effective 1 February 2016.

“The engineering and infrastructure industry faces huge change and challenges over the next few years. A high performing finance function is essential to drive our business forward. Andrew Muller’s extensive industry experience, combined with his strategic thinking and operational expertise, will help us achieve significant financial outcomes and drive business growth,” said Giam.

“Andrew has considerable expertise in driving, business transformation, mergers and acquisitions, including post acquisition integration, and complex project execution. He joins Aurecon following an 18 year career with Lendlease, where he held a range of senior financial management positions – most recently as CFO of its Australian Construction and Infrastructure business.

“Financially and commercially astute, Andrew will bring the ability to understand and interpret key drivers of business value as well as experience in successfully resolving complex operational/commercial matters to help shape Aurecon's future,” Giam said.

Andrew responded: “I am particularly excited to be joining an organisation with a CEO that embraces change and values the contribution that Finance can make to the future of a business,” he said.

“Aurecon is a dynamic global business on a pathway to growth and transformation. In a commoditised market, subject to disruptive technology, it has recognised the need to respond to the constantly shifting business landscape, to be organisationally agile while differentiating itself from its competitors.”

“Giam’s focus on driving changes to ensure Aurecon is future ready together with its refreshed strategy will ensure Aurecon has the ability to produce enhanced profit and growth for ourselves and our clients.”

Throughout his career, Andrew has built high performing finance teams, and is passionate about developing future leaders. Andrew is looking forward to working in Aurecon's global business environment, which is spread across multiple markets, disciplines and geographies.

“Having worked in property and infrastructure for much of my professional career, I am happy to be joining a company that is a key player in the industry. I really enjoy being part of creating, designing and delivering buildings and infrastructure that improve our world,” added Andrew.

This appointment follows the decision of Aurecon CFO, Tony McCusker to step down from the CFO role and to continue working for us on a part time basis.

“I’d like to thank Tony for his contribution as CFO, a position he held for 10 years. He also led Aurecon as Acting CEO from March 2014 to February 2015. Tony will remain with Aurecon in a part-time capacity helping with a number of key business projects,” said Giam.

Andrew’s appointment as Chief Financial Officer accompanies several other significant appointments - Michael Shirley as Managing Director, Clients; Dr Andrew Maher as Chief Digital Officer; and Maureen Thurston as Global Director, Design to Innovate. Together, these appointments are key to Aurecon’s strategy to strengthen its operational excellence, client relationships and competitiveness in the global marketplace.
