16 October 2014 - Several of Aurecon’s young professionals were recently recognised for their achievements at the Engineers Australia Excellence Awards in Queensland and South Australia and at the Queensland IESANZ Lighting Society Awards.

“Many congratulations to Justin Goodman, Darrin Schreier, and Luke Chaczko on such great and deserved recognition. These award wins really illustrate the depth and breadth of Aurecon’s pool of talented young professionals,” said Bill Cox, General Manager - ANZ.

Justin Goodman - Engineers Australia South Australian Young Professional Engineer of the Year

Justin GoodmanAurecon’s Justin Goodman took out the South Australian Young Professional of the Year award. Justin began his career with Aurecon in early 2004 after graduating from the University of Adelaide with a First Class Honours degree in Electrical Engineering.

Justin received the award for his individual contribution to the engineering profession and it reflects his contribution on projects such as SAHMRI, Adelaide Oval and other South Australian projects.

Justin was humble about receiving the award, “To be honest, I didn’t really think I had a chance of winning. There’s no shortage of engineering talent in SA, you just need to have a look at the ambitious, almost impossible, projects being delivered at the moment to realise that,” says Justin.

Luke Chaczko - Engineers Australia Queensland Young Engineering Associate of the Year

Luke ChaczkoBrisbane based Luke Chaczko, Senior Mechanical Designer for Aurecon, won the prestigious Queensland Young Engineering Associate of the Year award. Luke graduated from an Advanced Diploma of Engineering (Mechanical) at the Morton Institute of Technology in 2006.

Luke says that one of the main things he enjoys about working for Aurecon is the diverse  work he does. He says “What I’ve always found fantastic is the culture and the technical excellence that this company strives to achieve. I work with some fantastic engineers and a really good support network.”

Winning the award was a shock at first, Luke says, “I had an expectation that drafters in the industry wouldn’t get that amount of recognition within the industry. It was great to see that Engineers Australia recognised some of the work that we do. I am very proud of the award.”

Darrin Schreier - Student Achievement Award, IESANZ Lighting Society Awards

Darrin SchreierDarrin Schreier, a Brisbane based Electrical Technical Officer, is the recipient of the 2014 Masters of Lighting Student Achievement Award, from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).

The award recognises Darrin’s hard work and dedication to his studies, which he completed concurrent to his developing portfolio of high – profile and challenging lighting projects including the massive Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

“Given the relatively small size of our industry, there’s so much opportunity for eager, ambitious engineers to get involved in a diverse range of projects right across the board,” says Darrin.
