Sponsored by Aurecon, the Institute will be formally launched in Melbourne on Sunday 26 August at an event featuring Jason F. McLennan, a world-renowned green building thought leader and CEO of the International Living Future Institute.
As part of the Institute’s inaugural celebrations, McLennan will present at a series of free public lectures and industry workshops in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Aurecon is a founding sponsor of the Living Future Institute and a major sponsor of the series of lectures and workshops.
“At Aurecon, we believe sustainable design is good design, so we place great emphasis on staying at the front end of emerging trends by being involved in industry organisations such as the Living Futures Institute,” said Jeff Robinson, Sustainable Design Leader at Aurecon.
“We are proud of our ability to deliver sustainable design that doesn’t compromise on the practical function of buildings, while also offering a sense of place. We achieve this by considering the client needs and how the project and environment will interact with and respond to innovative designs that produce improved sustainability.
“The result is better buildings, more integrated environs and added value for our clients.
“The Aurecon team are always open to opportunities that will encourage industry and the general public to look at how we might improve the performance and sustainability of our built environment, and we look forward to sharing ideas generated by the Living Future Institute Australia.”
The Institute will also promote the Living Building Challenge, an international movement that challenges how we approach the design, creation and operation of buildings and certifies buildings against 20 rigorous criteria, including net-zero energy, waste and water, over a minimum 12 months of continuous occupancy.
