Melbourne’s EastLink project was declared Australia’s most outstanding example of construction excellence at the 2009 Australian Construction Achievement Award (ACAA) dinner in Sydney on Thursday 7 May.
The project was constructed by Thiess and John Holland, with the design split between three of Australia's largest consulting engineering firms.
Aurecon’s design team was responsible for the northern 6 km section including the twin 1.5 km tunnels, Ringwood Bypass and the complicated Ringwood and Maroondah interchanges.

The AUD 2.5 billion, 39 km tollway is located in Melbourne’s eastern and south-eastern suburbs between the existing Eastern, Monash and Peninsula Freeways.
At the time of construction, it was Australia’s largest road infrastructure project, and was completed five months ahead of schedule.
