Asia Pacific design, engineering and advisory company, Aurecon, is delighted to have supported Portugal-based TagEnergy to acquire ACE Power from Pelion New Energy and other minority stakeholders.

This acquisition adds 6GW of wind, solar and BESS (battery energy storage system) to the Australian renewables landscape and expands Tag’s pipeline to 10 GW nationwide.

Aurecon supported TagEnergy through the project exclusivity period prior to making a formal offer to acquire, providing all aspects of due diligence from environmental assessments through to grid connection and constructability. With ACE Power’s power generation and storage projects being across four Australian states and at various stages of development, the due diligence exercise was challenging.

TagEnergy is currently delivering Australia’s largest wind farm, Golden Plains, across two stages in Victoria. Aurecon was engaged on the Golden Plains Wind Farm project to provide due diligence services for project financing followed by construction monitoring role as Owner’s Engineer.

Stan Kaluwin, Aurecon’s Energy Transactions Leader says, “Tag’s acquisition of ACE Power is another signal that we are in the middle of the biggest capital deployment that the sector has ever seen. As deals and transactions continue to increase in scale and size, bankability together with a comprehensive understanding of the multiple dimensions of renewable energy projects, are key to securing profitable and valuable asset portfolios for investors. We’re very proud to have worked with the TagEnergy team on this significant transaction.”

TagEnergy Managing Partner – Australia, Andrew Riggs, said the investment is a strong vote of confidence in the Australian clean energy transition.

“We’re proud to contribute to national goals for emissions reduction and energy security with clean, low-cost renewable energy. Our projects create long-term rural jobs, contribute significant benefits to our host communities and stimulate further regional development.”

“We do this with the deepest respect for the environment and the communities in which we operate, striving every day to listen, learn and lead the way to an equitable clean energy transition,” he said.

Aurecon is a leading provider of energy transaction and investment advisory, having advised on more than 120GW of renewable energy transactions globally. Technical advisors were complemented by our engineering expertise across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand in providing analysis to TagEnergy, supporting the investment decision.
