Aurecon Chief Operating Officer, Louise Adams, has been appointed to the Australian Government’s Business Champions Initiative, with an aim to facilitate greater commercial links between Australia and the economies of Southeast Asian Nations.
As one of ten Business Champions selected from some of Australia’s leading corporate executives, Adams has been assigned to focus on relations with Vietnam to ensure Government and the private sector work in tandem to boost two-way trade and investment.

“I am honoured to be able to represent Australia as part of the Business Champions Initiative and I’m excited to collaborate and explore investment and knowledge sharing opportunities with our ASEAN neighbours, in particular Vietnam, where Aurecon already has a long-standing reputation dating back to the early 90s,” Adams said.
“Vietnam is experiencing rapid economic growth and is expected to become one of the largest economies in the region. With that comes an insatiable hunger for energy, sustainable infrastructure, digital capability and education to name just a few, as more people populate cities and feed an emerging market.
“Australia can play a crucial role in helping the region achieve its economic and net-zero goals by sharing our expertise in areas such as renewable energy, sustainable development, and digital infrastructure.
“In return we can leverage untapped investment and two-way trade partnerships and learn lessons from countries like Vietnam, where they are adapting and embracing digital transformation at a much faster pace and a greater scale than we can in Australia.”
Adams previously held a similar position as part of the Government’s Australia-Vietnam Strategic Partnership, and established strong links with Vietnamese business and government leaders and will take this experience into her new appointment.
“One of the key themes that came out from my work in the Strategic Partnership was the lack of awareness over mutually beneficial opportunities, and the perceived barriers to entering the market.
“I see my role as a conduit between business and government across our nations to start discussions around how individual companies can connect to Vietnam, be competitive, and sustain future growth.”
The Business Champions Initiative was announced by Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, at the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit held in Melbourne, 4-6 March 2024. The recommendation was made by Nicholas Moore AO, Special Envoy for Southeast Asia, as part of Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 report.
