Asia Pacific design, engineering, and advisory company, Aurecon, clinched a Bronze award for Excellence in the Use of HR Technology at the HR Excellence Awards 2024. Aurecon also attained the Finalist position in Excellence in Hybrid Working, demonstrating Aurecon’s commitment to cultivating a progressive work environment in Thailand.
The HR Excellence Awards are dedicated to celebrating and acknowledging exceptional accomplishments and innovations within human resources management in Thailand. The 2024 edition recognises the most transformative HR strategies, pioneering policies, and ground-breaking initiatives that have left an indelible mark on employee engagement, company prowess, and overall business triumph. The awards are peer-reviewed by a jury of esteemed senior HR practitioners from the corporate and public sectors.

Aurecon Thailand has embraced a one-stop HR portal and the impact has been substantial: 35,000 hours saved in HR processes, translating to an impressive 4.9 million THB savings over a four-year period. This has also resulted in a 64% increase in communication between leaders and their teams.
Pivotal to this integrated HR system, employees have a world of learning at their fingertips. The system includes an online learning platform, an employee pulse survey tool enabling timely feedback, and real-time data access. These features streamline decision-making processes across the company.
Gabe Carter, Managing Director for Thailand & Vietnam, emphasises the strategic importance of these initiatives:
"We're not just embracing innovation; we're ensuring it brings us tangible benefits, shaping it with our people in mind and ensuring there is room for us to be agile in the long run. Enhancing internal efficiency empowers our team with digital skills, allowing our leaders to focus on strategic initiatives such as projects and client needs, propelling sustainable growth for our business.”
Aurecon’s Excellence in Hybrid Working includes empowering employees to choose their work location and hours, resulting in a 22% increase in remote work satisfaction scores. Beyond enhancing work-life balance for our employees, this initiative addresses Bangkok's severe traffic challenges by significantly reducing commute times.
Employees now have the option to work from home on some days, commute during off-peak hours, and are encouraged to use public transport, contributing to a reduction in Aurecon's overall carbon footprint.
"We’ve created an environment that values flexibility, innovation, and employees’ well-being."
Liam Hayes, Chief People Officer – Aurecon
"Our people appreciate that the company is prioritising their wellbeing, taking into account their personal lives and the daily commute challenges," says Rossukhon Sapphakitkamjohn, Director of People Operations, Thailand. "In the face of fierce talent competition, our flexible working arrangements have become a strong Employee Value Proposition."
This approach aligns with the findings of the Robert Walters 2024 Salary Survey Thailand, which highlights a shift in employee priorities towards flexible working and its growing importance in attracting valuable talent.
Aurecon's recognition at the HR Excellence Awards exemplifies the company's progressive culture and ability to adapt to changing times. By seamlessly blending advanced HR technology with a flexible work model, Aurecon is setting new benchmarks in employee experience and operational efficiency. This approach not only benefits employees but also strengthens the overall company.
Liam Hayes, Chief People Officer at Aurecon, reflects on the company’s journey in Thailand: “Aurecon has been a part of Thailand for 35 years, and our growth and success in this market are strongly attributed to our people-first approach. We’ve created an environment that values flexibility, innovation, and employees’ well-being. This approach allows our team to thrive and focus on delivering the best results for clients.
