Asia Pacific design, engineering and advisory company Aurecon has been recognised as a winner in both the Hong Kong and Global Most Innovative Knowledge Enterprise (MIKE) Awards 2023 for the third year in a row.
The MIKE Award is one of the highest accolades in the knowledge management field and recognises companies that have demonstrated excellence in knowledge management and innovation. Aurecon was first recognised in both programs in 2021, with the company also being named one of the two most outstanding winners at the global level that year.

Dr. Andrew Maher, Group Managing Principal, Eminence, Digital & Innovation for Aurecon, said the company’s recognition in the program for three consecutive years attests to the company's unwavering commitment to improving its knowledge culture and the value it brings to its business and clients.
“As our operating environment evolves, so too does our knowledge culture. Our focus is developing a culture that leverages our collective knowledge and using this important asset to bring ideas to life for our clients,” Dr. Maher said.
This achievement builds on Aurecon’s established knowledge-sharing practices to foster new opportunities for innovation, with people at its centre.

for our clients."
One of Aurecon’s key strategies includes nurturing knowledge-sharing cultures. This is epitomised by a global talk series called KNOWing, run by the Knowledge Team, focused on the company's strategic direction. In addition, Espresso Yourself is a 15-minute micro-knowledge sharing event that creates connections between Aurecon’s people, projects and clients through formally supporting business-integrated communities of practice.
Kim Sherwin, Director, Capability and Knowledge for Aurecon, said putting people at the heart of its knowledge strategy helps to humanise and not just systematise the company’s knowledge asset.
“Our view has shifted as we believe that knowledge is best viewed through a people-focused lens. We see that knowledge exists everywhere there are people. Collectively, the technical skills and knowledge of our people drive our ability to deliver innovative designs and experiences for our clients and our business. Ultimately, knowledge is a key contributor that gives Aurecon its unbeatable edge,” Sherwin noted.
To further leverage people’s knowledge, Aurecon also invested in exploring artificial intelligence (AI) to facilitate knowledge access and sharing within its business.
Last year, Aurecon introduced its first intelligent assistant called Recall, which brings together the company’s domain expertise with AI technology.
“It’s an exciting time to be in the knowledge industry and with the team at Aurecon. The opportunities of Generative AI are massive, we have a role to play and it’s great to be part of a company that embraces innovation,” Sherwin added.
