NewsResilience, decarbonisation and regeneration key themes for Aurecon at Climate Smart Engineering Conference

27 November 2023 | 2 min

International design, engineering and advisory company Aurecon will present on its role in the planning, design and delivery of climate smart projects and infrastructure at the Climate Smart Engineering (CSE23) Conference from 29-30 November 2023.

Six of Aurecon’s climate smart designers, engineers, and advisors will bring a diverse range of perspectives to address energy transition, advancing the circular economies and creating regenerative solutions in response to reducing and mitigating the impact from climate change.

Considering energy transition and decarbonisation, Charlotte Guthleben will discuss how drawing on international knowledge can help set up Australia’s emerging offshore wind sector for success, enabling large scale renewable power generation to be connected to the grid at pace and scale.

Arne Nilsen will explore leveraging nature itself for greater resilience as critical infrastructure becomes increasingly vulnerable to extreme weather events and exposure to climate change. Meanwhile, Scott Collins will examine strategies for the regeneration of existing assets, emphasising resilience to extreme weather events and the reuse and reduction in materials to sustain and maintain ageing infrastructure.

Continuing the theme of circular economy, Quentin Jackson will share the important role of timber in the transition to a low carbon circular economy, with the added benefits of satisfying our innate human need to connect to the natural world.

Matthew Tendam will discuss the balancing of economic principles and their application to environmental regeneration projects. Ellen Worthington will discuss the opportunities in rail infrastructure, emphasising its potential to significantly impact the environment, economy, and broader community.
