Aurecon Managing Director in Queensland, Evelyn Storey said, “As one of our longest serving offices, Aurecon Cairns has left footprints in much of the iconic infrastructure in the region. With an intimate understanding of the tropical environment and extensive remote areas, we will continue to serve the local community, drawing on a breadth of knowledge across Aurecon group.”

Boasting a diverse project portfolio, Aurecon has worked on a list of projects that define the city and embody the local cultures, such as the Bulk Sugar Terminal, Cairns International Airport, James Cook University, The Pier, The Cairns Regional Waste Facility, and Cairns Marine Precinct Common User Facility.

Speaking of Aurecon’s history in Cairns, Acting Cairns Office Lead, Andrew Wright said, “The Cairns Office was started on the back of two clients, the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, and the Cairns Harbour Board who we designed the Cairns Sugar Bulk Terminal for.

“We have been supporting these clients in Cairns ever since and take pride in building enduring client relationships like those. Our celebration honoured the visionaries, the leaders, and every member of our passionate team that has shaped Aurecon Cairns into what it is today.”

Outside Cairns, Aurecon currently works in remote communities across the western cape and Torres Strait in Far North Queensland, building infrastructure that improves the local amenity, connectivity, resilience, safety and environmental health.

Dedicated to community development and growth, Aurecon regularly undertakes pro bono work including the award-winning Bana Yarralji Ranger Base at Shipton’s Flat. Aurecon also recruits cadets from local schools and provides work experience to students in engineering and project management-related degrees.

Aurecon Cairns team relocated in 2022 to a new office in Lake Street, Cairns City.
