International design, engineering and advisory company Aurecon’s Chief Operating Officer Louise Adams has received the Excellence in Engineering award in the high-profile Women in Industry Awards in recognition of her contribution to industry.
The Excellence in Engineering award recognises an individual who has shown leadership in engineering, technological excellence and innovation. Louise was awarded for her significant contribution to the engineering sector across a company and industry level.

Louise said she was honoured to receive the award that demonstrates how much influence engineers have to impact change within industries.
“There are significant challenges facing our world today and I do feel a responsibility to help our profession be equipped to handle it,” Louise said.
“Over the last couple of years I have been involved with addressing the shortage of engineers and significant infrastructure spend impacting the industry. I am also passionate about helping engineers become more visible and vocal about their role helping society solve the world’s most complex issues.
Louise was also credited with increasing the number of women in STEM careers to help build the pipeline of future engineers, along with other industry efforts to improve female engineering participation and equity including her role as a Minerva network mentor to help female sportspeople transfer skills from the field to the boardroom, and Chair of the Champions of Change Consult Australia Group where she has helped co-create inclusive cultures, increase women in leadership, and eliminate the like for like pay gap.
Louise was also credited with helping to lead Aurecon’s growth during the pandemic with a focus on innovation, inclusion and wellbeing. Despite turbulent market conditions and skills shortages, Aurecon continued to grow and deliver outstanding financial results, including above target revenue and profit growth.
