19 February 2019 – Global engineering and infrastructure advisory company Aurecon has been chosen to organise and present the Construction Industry Council’s (CIC) BIM Standards Stakeholders Consultation Seminars.
In 2017, the HKSAR Government stipulated that BIM technology must be used in the design and construction of all major government capital works projects costing more than HKD 30 million, and that the use of this technology in private construction projects should be promoted. “As early as 2001, Aurecon has been bringing ideas to life by developing 3D design models for eminent projects,” says Francis Leung, Aurecon’s Executive Director (Structural Engineering & Digital Delivery), Greater China. “Being engaged by CIC to present its consultation sessions is truly a great opportunity for us to share our knowledge and best practices with the industry.”
Using Design Intent BIM, Aurecon has completed high profile projects such as the West Kowloon Terminus roof and Macau Eiffel Tower, helping clients achieve better buildability and steamlined construction.
Francis, who is the Founder and recently-reappointed Chairman of the Hong Kong Institute of Building Information Modelling, will present a total of 30 seminars throughout 2019. Gathering input to craft a new BIM framework for Hong Kong, the seminars for the drafting stage were successfully held in January and March 2019.
