Aurecon announces new leaders to address New Zealand’s rapidly changing property and construction industry

Global engineering and infrastructure advisory company Aurecon has appointed three new leaders, Craig Stevenson, Anita Milne and Karl Wilkinson, to help deliver New Zealand’s rising need for more sustainable, efficient and resilient buildings.

11 September 2018 - Global engineering and infrastructure advisory company Aurecon has appointed three new leaders, Craig Stevenson, Anita Milne and Karl Wilkinson, to help deliver New Zealand’s rising need for more sustainable, efficient, and resilient buildings.

The property and construction industry is evolving dramatically as digital disruption; changed building practices and the need to respond to climate change and reduce energy consumption impact the sector.

“We are moving towards an increasingly digital, interconnected society and with it comes the realisation that everything we know will change. Buildings of the future will put people at the centre of its designs and, while giving its occupants an easier and safer life, complex technology will be at the heart. It has the potential to reshape our industry over the next 30 years,” says Nick Gordge, Aurecon’s Buildings Leader for New Zealand.

“I am delighted to introduce the new appointments to our Built Environment team in New Zealand: Craig, Anita and Karl will be bringing the best minds together to work on the industry’s greatest challenges,” Gordge adds.

Craig Stevenson – Service Line Leader, Structural

Craig Stevenson has been appointed Service Line Leader – Structural. An Aurecon Technical Director with over 35 years domestic and international experience, he has been responsible for the technical leadership and successful delivery of a wide range of multidiscipline projects from high-rise buildings to airport terminals, retail facilities and infrastructure projects. His leadership roles span a range of developments for Aurecon’s retail clients across New Zealand, as well as leading teams on seismic assessments of the property portfolios of many of Aurecon’s key clients. With his knowledge and expertise in structural and seismic engineering, Stevenson regularly contributes to industry bodies in the advancement of engineering practice.

“I think it is critical that we are fully aligned with our clients’ businesses so that we can understand their challenges. This new role gives me the opportunity to create a highly specialised team which will evolve to match the needs of our clients and construction industry changes,” said Stevenson.

Anita Milne – Technical Director, Building Services

Anita has over 15 years of experience on a range of sectors as an international consultant before joining Aurecon as a Technical Director.Anita Milne brings to Aurecon specific focus on commercial property and the education sector after over 15 years’ experience with international consultancies on a range of sectors such as commercial office, education and retail. Some of her most memorable projects are the Australis Nathan Buildings at Britomart, the PPP2 Public Private Partnership schools, ‘The Brickworks’ at Lynn Mall, and the Sylvia Park Office and Dining Lane.

“I’m excited to be able to use my knowledge and experience to lead teams where my expertise will make a positive difference for our clients’ projects,” said Milne.

Karl Wilkinson – Health Sector Leader & Service Line Leader – Mechanical Services

Karl Wilkinson served as one of Aurecon's Technical Directors before being appointed as Health Sector Leader and Service Line Leader for Mechanical ServicesBefore returning to Wellington to join Aurecon as the company’s Health Sector Leader & Service Line Leader for Mechanical Services, Karl Wilkinson had been a Technical Director with an international consultancy working in New Zealand and Singapore. With the Government’s focus on improving healthcare, his experience will further develop our leading and differentiated capabilities in the health sector.

“What excites me about this role is the ability to bring my international experience to New Zealand healthcare projects through Aurecon’s human-centred design approach,” said Wilkinson.
