18 June 2014 - Aurecon Associate Structural Engineer, Dr. Assawin Wanitkorkul has been appointed to the Engineering Institute of Thailand's Board Sub-Committee on engineering for earthquakes and wind loads.
Dr Assawin was appointed based on his wide-ranging expertise and in-depth experience, especially in the analysis and innovative design of structures subjected to seismic excitations.
Over the past 10 years, Dr. Assawin has consulted extensively on numerous building and infrastructure projects across Asia, Australasia and the USA. In addition, he has a strong background in research and experiments of structures under seismic/dynamic loadings.
On this prestigious appointment, Country Manager for Aurecon Thailand, Mr Sakorn Kruemai said, “We are very proud of Dr Assawin's appointment; his contributions will certainly build better and safer communities in Thailand and around the world. A licensed Professional Engineer, Dr Assawin holds a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. Prior to his career with Aurecon, Dr. Assawin was a post-doctoral research assistant at the University at Buffalo, New York. and has authored and co-authored numerous journal articles on earthquake engineering, structural dynamics and seismic fragility assessments.
