Aurecon’s building services expertise sought for national PNG project
18 February 2014 - Aurecon has been appointed to provide building services consultancy for the Waigani National Courts Complex project in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
The AUD 125 million courthouse project includes the design and construction of the new supreme, appeal and national court facilities.
Aurecon will join principal design consultants, Peddle Thorp and James Cubbitt Architects (JCA), and will provide all building services, including, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, fire, and ESD design.
Project teams based in Brisbane will also work closely with PNG based engineering firms providing local advice and construction phase inspections.
Project Leader, Marco Hopman, said: “This project is a landmark development for PNG and its reformed courts structure. We look forward to the opportunity to work with an expert public buildings design consortium and also the opportunity to develop new, collaborative partnerships with local engineering firms.”
The iconic project is another in Aurecon’s growing portfolio of court facility design projects.
Working closely with the PNG chief justice and judiciary, the project aims to deliver the nation’s capital a contemporary legal precinct that will support the long – term requirements of PNG’s judicial system.
Construction works will begin in early 2015.
