“This is a great boost for Newcastle and shows a confidence and belief in our vision and plans for the future,” Lord Mayor McCloy said. “It will mean a boost to our local economy and provide new opportunities for people of the area.”

Aurecon will move from its current premises at Newcastle University to a new state of the art building, which will be developed, designed and constructed by ATB Morton, with Aurecon commissioning design firm EJE Architecture for the interiors.

Aurecon executives Neil Naismith (Office Manager, Newcastle), Neil Barr (Manager, Australia and New Zealand Offices), Eric Kreutzer (Commercial Manager, Newcastle) attended the ground breaking ceremony for the new office.

“After a long and happy relationship with the university we look forward to moving to our new facility. Our relationship with the university will continue even after we have moved as the original high voltage testing facility will continue to be housed at the university for use by both Newcastle University and Aurecon,” said Neil Naismith, Manager of Aurecon’s Newcastle Office.

The 8,900 m2 facility houses two floors of commercial office space, has 500 m2 technical laboratories housing oil, environmental, metallurgy, electrical and mechanical engineering labs and a 270 m2 high voltage testing lab.

A flexible working environment will allow Aurecon to quickly adapt to our changing business needs.

Work walls, meeting rooms and informal meeting spaces have been designed to facilitate a high level of collaboration.

The building is due for completion in late 2013, which will coincide with our 60th year in Newcastle anniversary celebrations.
