The prestigious award is recognition of Amanda’s tireless work on the Perth Arena project, which she cites as the ideal start to her career.
"Working on RAC Arena, from design during my first few years to the final stages of construction, was an incredibly rewarding experience. I was able to see something go from ideas and lines on a page, to being a huge, real building," Amanda said.
"It still amazes me every time I go out there and see the building completed, after looking at it on a piece of paper for so long."
Having completed work experience at Aurecon during her university holidays, Amanda joined Aurecon in 2008 as a graduate with the Buildings team in Perth. Amanda says Aurecon’s supportive learning and development culture for emerging professionals has been key to her success to date.
"Two things that were most important for me were mentoring, and ‘on the job’ training."
"Pairing up with a mentor was one of the big positives for me and I have had a few senior engineer mentors to help and guide me. Working on real projects with real deadlines is how you learn how the industry really works."
Amanda has recently joined the Auckland Buildings team and is now working on the Telecom LTE rollout project in Auckland, as well as other projects relating to the earthquake assessment of buildings in New Zealand.
