Base Engineering Assessments Programme for Department of Defence (Australia)
Base Engineering Assessments Programme for Commonwealth of Australia Department of Defence, Australia
Aurecon allows Defence department to better understand challenges
Aurecon was appointed by the Commonwealth of Australia Department of Defence to develop a solution to combat the challenges of an ageing Defence estate, unsustainable construction and related uncertainty over the estate’s ability to support current and future capability.
Aurecon used the Base Engineering Assessments Program (BEAP) to analyse in-ground infrastructure. The BEAP methodology developed by Aurecon is a programme management approach which uses three phases.
The three phases are:
An initial discovery and desktop phase;
The physical investigations phase; and
The development of a condition, capacity and compliance baseline with costed recommendations for remedial works for each base.
Aurecon was able to produce a bespoke methodology to identify capacity, condition and compliance for Defence’s in ground infrastructure. The methodology provides information to address the identified Defence business risks and needs, allowing Defence to better understand the maintenance and reinvestment liability of each base.
