Ken: Hey, Ryan, I just wanted to expand on that conversation we were having the other day around some of the parallels with the sort of really technically imminent and awesome work you guys are doing in the renewable wind farm area, and the really interesting parallels to that and the complexities in some of the CSG developments.
Ryan: Yeah. Good question Ken. We've got over 100 people working, our electrical engineers, working in the network planning and design space. And so wind farms, we've got to optimise our distribution network layout to match the turbines and coordinate with the other civil and infrastructure that needs to be laid out to connect the wind farm.
So if you apply that logic into a CSG field, basically it's a distribution network that needs to expand out and collect up geographically dispersed loads all over. And so it's you've constantly got to coordinate with the other assets in the build out of that, optimise for cost and provide for the flexibility of expansion. And so we use smarter tools to do that.
Looking in the planning space, yeah, it's the same layout that we can do across these different assets.
Ken: Yeah, it's really interesting, I understand that some of the CSG proponents have got enormous networks like electrical networks / infrastructure, and some of them are the largest in Queensland. What's your observation around that?
Ryan: Yeah, we work on all the largest distribution networks in Queensland, starting with Energex and Ergon in their distribution networks supplying you and me. But, we've moved into those distribution networks owned by private, private customers. So, Brisbane Airport is one good example. They've got a master plan that we helped develop and we retain custodians of their model and we help them build out, plan and operate their network. So helping asset management, and augmentations, and connection of new customers in their network.
Ken: And I guess, you were saying you the other day that our relationship with Powerlink’s also very, very powerful, and helpful in the work that we do.
Ryan: Yeah, knowing how to connect in Queensland is key. So, it's gotten more complex, it's higher cost, and there are risks with delays and understanding that process. So we're experts at that. We're one of Powerlink’s largest service providers. I lead the Powerlink client portfolio, so my team does a lot of design and planning with Powerlink, so we know deeply how to connect large loads to Powerlink’s network.
