What Engineering = Humanity means to me:
Daily I am surrounded by engineers of many specialisations who take incredible ideas and flesh them out with the formulae, calculations and drawings required to turn them into a constructible reality. It doesn’t matter to me that I’m not one of them. As a Project Manager I see myself as an integral part of that materialisation.
In my project experience, engineering is integral to making incredible projects a reality. These projects contribute to our quality of life as humans, down to our core humanity. We gaze up at the stars and wonder what makes them shine and so we build facilities that support telescopes that can see into the far depths of space. We strive to protect our borders from those who would do us harm and design deterrents and safety measures. We look to the future of education and create learning spaces that exceed our needs as students now but can still meet the needs of our children in the future.
The crux of our quality of life lies in engineering. Not only engineering feats that result in impressive buildings at gravity-defying heights and angles, but skills that facilitate the true reach of our curiosity and imaginations.
