My Aurecon attribute is fearless. I think this is an important attribute for project managers as you need to be fearless in the face of a new adventure (project). You need to chart the way forward for the team and be the fearless leader they can look to for guidance and counsel.
I share this award with the team. It shows when project teams work together in the best interests of the project and put stakeholders’ interests first, projects will succeed. They become even more memorable when the entire team wins – client, professional team and contractor. Every day is different, like every project is different, and being fearless will differentiate you.
If you’re prepared to help others succeed, you will succeed too. Servant-leadership is the single most important attribute in a project manager and it’s the way I manage projects and engage with project teams. If they’re set up for success and believe in the vision and goals of the project, then I’ve succeeded in my role as project manager. The award is a testament to this style of project management.
