Longreach Hospital is the vital primary facility for healthcare in Central Western Queensland. As the project was experiencing programme and budget strain, Aurecon was engaged by Queensland Health to reinvigorate it through a refurbishment and upgrade of its mechanical services.
The Aurecon project team identified that the primary focus and the ‘why’ of the project had been lost. Using its ‘People Centred Care’ approach, Aurecon’s project management and stakeholder engagement programme were instrumental in recovering and successfully delivering the project.
Importantly, the Aurecon programme meant that the hospital remained live and operational during this time, which was one of Queensland Health’s primary objectives. This allowed critical clinical services to continue to be delivered to the region’s rural communities.
