– Winner: International Members-at-Large Award for Project of the Year
Ivanplats, an international platinum mine with operations in Mokopane, Limpopo, established the Bonega Trust to fund community development projects. Aurecon’s Communication and Stakeholder Engagement team was chosen to facilitate a process of identifying projects that would be of sustainable community benefit within 20 affected communities.
Using a ground-breaking, Asset Based Community Development method – an approach of grassroots empowerment for communities to focus on what they have rather than what they lack – Aurecon achieved unprecedented levels of public participation resulting in engaging over 11,000 people in an asset mapping exercise.
This project exemplifies Aurecon's impact on building sustainable, liveable futures and shows how nimble and agile our people are.
