Amelia led the project team that transformed Ian Potter SouthBank Centre into an all-electric zero-carbon ready building

Engineers Australia’s Top 30 Most Innovative Engineers

– Winner: Most Innovative Engineer ‒ Building & Construction

As Master project leader of the Aurecon team commissioned to complete building services, ESD and fire engineering on the new Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Ian Potter SouthBank Centre, Amelia Milne looked at innovative ways of achieving carbon neutral ambitions. It meant adopting alternative strategies to commonly used gas-fired units for heating hot water generation.

By developing a system that employs features such as four-pipe air source heat pumps in conjunction with a photovoltaic array, she led the team to achieve an all-electric zero-carbon ready conservatorium that is truly future-ready, and in complete alignment with the University of Melbourne’s commitment to sustainability and carbon neutral 2030 goals.
