What Engineering = Humanity means to me:
Kia ora koutou. As a lawyer within Aurecon, I’m not the best person to comment on our engineers’ creative and collaborative solutions to the challenges of our time. However, I do think that, for engineers to be able to make the best difference, they need to be working with clients who embrace or share a vision to improve the lives of those around them or whom they care for.
Critical in that relationship is for the client and the consultant to treat each other as trusted and valued partners – better still, as contributing members of whānau (family and friends) on any project or whāinga (goal) – not as contractual adversaries or insurers-by-default. In my experience, the sharing of responsibility, risk and reward in the procurement, development and delivery of our projects generates the best outcomes for our tāngata (people). Noho ora mai.
