Pre strip studies, Australia

Aurecon was engaged to undertake a validation of the costs, programme, and risks associated with preparation for a pre-mine excavation at a large mining/processing operation in South Australia’s far north.

Using modelling, we calculated the productivities and developed the schedule, infrastructure requirements and procurement strategy, manning requirements as well as operating and capital cost sensitivities.

Aurecon then developed the concept designs for the mine maintenance and equipment service areas, staff quarters and offices, as well as modelling the accommodation and flight demands, based on the manpower demands and shift patterns, and the pumping and piping to evacuate water from the pit.

Following this, Aurecon undertook the master planning for the infrastructure site and is currently developing the detailed designs (civil, structural, electrical, hydraulic) including the packages to procure the infrastructure in preparation for construction.
