Leopard Creek Golf Estate, South Africa

Developing a golf course for leisure sport fanatics and nature lovers

The development of Leopard Creek Golf Estate in Malelane, South Africa, involved a full spectrum of civil, electrical, electronic and structural engineering design, including geotechnical investigations.

Aurecon played a crucial role in ensuring the estate’s water needs were met, including designing a unique water withdrawal system which pumps water from the Crocodile River to the estate. Aurecon also designed various dams and water features throughout the golf course to ensure an integrated stormwater solution, as well as reservoirs, water and sewerage purification works, water reticulation networks, and sewage.

In addition, we also provided a full spectrum of engineering services for the estate’s roads, electrical reticulation and communication networks, as well as completing structural design for all buildings.

Because Aurecon’s involvement included full-time site inspection services, we were able to closely monitor the quality of workmanship for the full duration of the project. This ‘hands on’ approach ensured that the multiple facets of the project’s construction came together as a unified whole and provided a single point of contact for our client.

The final project consists of an exclusive 18 hole golf course, a clubhouse, recreation centre, sport facilities, a maintenance centre, the gate house and a 250 residential area which adjoins the Kruger National Park. Accommodating the needs of both leisure sport fanatics and nature lovers, Leopard Creek provides a challenge for golfers, a bird-watchers paradise, and stunning bushveld scenery.
